what is F/\LLS
· a physics-driven sample instrument — red bars fall under gravity, bounce off the floor, and each bounce triggers your loaded sample pitched to that note
· the rhythm and texture emerge from physics, not a clock — no two performances are identical
· an external keyboard, sequencer or the built-in sequencer transposes the entire field in real time
play tab
· select a scale and up to 8 notes — these are the pitches that fall
· click a note on the keyboard to toggle it on or off
· gravity (0–100) controls how fast bars fall · bounce (0–10) controls how high they rebound
· each floor hit triggers the sample pitched to that note
· regen resets all bars to the top · ⏸ pauses physics
· seq and midi source buttons enable or disable those input sources for root note changes
seq tab
· up to 64 steps, each triggering a root note change
· click a step to select it, then click a key on the keyboard below to assign a note
· right-click a filled step to clear its note
· bpm and swing control timing · sync to external MIDI clock via the clock toggle
sample tab
· load sounds from the library (3 columns) — click any pill to load instantly
· drag your own samples into the custom slots (4th column) or click an empty slot to browse
· on a filled custom slot: ● green dot loads it · ● red dot clears the slot · drag a new file onto it to replace
· set the root note using the mini keyboard — this tunes playback to the correct pitch
· volume is the master output · overlap controls voice ducking when notes stack
· save / load exports and imports your full project as a .falls file
midi
· connect a MIDI device using the device selector on the seq tab
· the midi button on the play tab must be active (lit) to receive note input
· incoming note on messages transpose the root note of the falling field in real time
· CC 20 = gravity · CC 21 = bounce · CC 22 (value > 63) = regen
· the green dot in the header shows when a MIDI device is connected
recording
· press rec on the sample tab to capture the audio output
· press again to stop and download the recording as a .wav file
display
· press m in the top right to toggle between light and dark themes
